Every page on the site comes from one of 4 sources. This is how each is collected and what its numbers mean.

The store charts

Once a day the site reads the best sellers list in each of the 20 PlayStation Stores it tracks and records every position in the top 100: the game, its rank, its price and any discount, its star rating and the number of reviews. Rank is the position in the store's own list at the moment it was read. The store publishes the list without saying how it is calculated, so a rank here is what the store showed, nothing more. The top 20 and the top 100 are recorded separately because the store presents them as separate lists.

Trend arrows compare today's rank with the reading closest to 24 hours earlier. A game marked new was not in that list a day ago. Days at number 1 count one per store per day. A game page's rank history is read straight from the daily record, and its best position is the best rank recorded since tracking began, not since release.

Sony's monthly top downloads

Sony publishes a most downloaded list each month on the PlayStation Blog, by platform and region. The site keeps every one: US and Canada from August 2015, Europe from June 2020, Japan from September 2020 from the Japanese blog, and Asia from February 2026. Names are kept as Sony wrote them, and the leaderboards merge a game's spelling and platform variants. A month at number 1 means Sony's list for that region and platform had the game first.

Sony's business figures

The PlayStation business pages are read from the Supplemental Information documents Sony publishes with each quarter's results, Game & Network Services segment. Where Sony later restated a figure, the restated one is used. Sony's fiscal year starts on 1 April and is named after the year it starts, so FY2025 is April 2025 to March 2026. Sell in is consoles or games shipped to shops, which Sony reports every quarter; sell through is what players bought, which Sony discloses for selected first party titles. Dollar figures use Sony's own average yen rate for the period.

Publishers' sales figures

A sales figure appears on the site only when the publisher stated it: in a results document, on its own site, or in a press release. Each figure shows the number, the date it was stated for, whether the publisher said sold, shipped, or shipped plus digital, and a link to where it was said. No estimate from a third party is used, and no figure is updated from anything but a new publisher statement.

Corrections

When a figure is found to be wrong it is corrected on the page and the corrected page replaces the old one. Report anything that looks wrong through the contact page.
